I use TD-Ameritrade. I found they were less expensive than E-Trade. I use technical analysis to buy and sell stocks. There are several good books out there like "Technical Analysis of the Financial markets" by John Murphy or "How to make money in stocks" by William O'Neil. I can tell you that you should paper trade prior to using your hard earned money first. It is easier to loose money than to gain it. This is because if you use a non-proven back tested buy-sell system, your losses can exceed your gains. I am getting gain/loss ratio > 4:1 averaging 30% per year. Check out yahoo group ComputerProgramPicks. Best of luck to you. Luck is using your skill, being patient and seizing the opportunity and being ready to sell when you are wrong.

Lots of great answers here. Here’s mine.
A friend was a successful day trader (9yrs) so I was fascinated by some of his trading wins.
I got a free portfolio paper trading account from yahoo to practice with, (I saved myself millions of real $ in losses whilst practicing, DO this first, you have to master your own fear and greed to avoid losing all you have)

I then went on free training courses to learn more, (http://www.teachmetotrade.com and

http://www.wizetrade.com they hold 1-day courses all around the country in hotels; it's a good taster. I bought a 3-day course for $ 2000 for a couple, get someone to go with you & split cost. I went on a 3 day course with Wizetrade only $ 150. The courses explain in more details all the different types of investing and how it works, video presentations etc. Now at the end of the course they push more training that costs tens of thousands of dollars, don't bother with those, you have a basic understanding now so read books and web sites for free. The wizetrade is a stock picking program but why you are there is not for that, it's to learn about the stock market, how the program works, spotting trends, buy points, sell points etc.

After more practice and defeating my fear & greed I opened an etrade brokerage account using Etrade Pro for level 2 quotes as they had the lowest opening balance requirement $ 1000.00 and they had PK and bb live level 2 included. (Don’t buy PK or BB stocks until you are experienced as most of them are scam shell companies that trade on fake news.

I then tested out many Internet investing sites with their free trial special offers and then re-subscribed with multiple email addresses until I was happy to subscribe. I also went to Borders and Barnes and Noble for hours every week, reading all of the investment sections for free (had to buy coffee though), here are some useful links,
http://www.otcbb.com/
http://www.trendtrading.com/ http://www.thestreet.com/ http://www.stockpickr.com/ http://www.knobias.com/ (live news feed raidar) http://www.investorshub.com/boards/default.asp
http://finance.yahoo.com/ http://www.stockcharts.com http://www.bigcharts.com
Use Yahoo most actives feature to see the leaders and losers, you should subscribe to this service for live streaming quotes for around $ 100 a year.
Watch CNBC and especially Jim Cramers Mad Money (he's the best)
Read Jim Cramer’s books and Michel Parness, Rule the Freakin markets/ Trend trading. to win.

This will be good grounding in the terminology and the many, various investing strategies. You will have to choose some strategies and concentrate on those until you get them right. I chose news day trading, shorting, piggybacking or shorting movers, swing trades, gaps and earnings. There are dozens of others, it depends on you, your style. Strategy, your capital and time you have available.

Good Luck

Sharebuilder.com does not have a minimum balance. I would also suggest opening a free Etrade account. Set up a watch list and see how well you do for a few months. In the meantime build up your cash pile.

If you must invest now I would but high divined yields stocks first. They are less risky and can be very profitable.

$ 500 is enough. Its not much and its not going to make you much money but its certainly enough for you to get your feet wet and learn the ins and outs of trading. The FIRST thing you should be doing is visiting this site every single day and reading as much as your eyes can possibly handle (investopedia.com). There is so much information on that site it can make even an experienced traders head spin sometimes. Also, for your benefit, there is a STOCK SIMULATOR on the site. Sign up for an account and they give you $ 100,000 to trade with (simulated of coarse). The game runs just like a real account with a broker would (they even charge you commission when you trade). The simulator runs with the live market with about a 5-15 minute delay. This is a good way to get your feet wet without having to take any real risk. This is especially useful for experienced traders as well to test new trading methods, etc. Good luck.

http://StockSalad.com software analysis many variables of the stocks from Dow Jones and NASDAQ 100. Millions of calculations are made in real time to determine how each stock is being valued on the stock market.

StockSalad.com then presents a simple recommendations list of the analyzed stocks, ranked according the extend of the overvalue or undervalue on the market. Depending on the technical indicators in combination with fundamental data, StockSalad.com also generates "buy" and 'sell" recommendations, targets and support levels.

Lots of good points in the answers ...and I'll throw in a few more.
Number one..you're not looking for a " site" to trade, you're looking for a " broker"...Fidelity: great full-service, learning tools, strategies, research, etc. E-trade: easy to open, has everything you need ( but a little harder to use/find than Fido )
Second, how to pick stocks? Wow...if you get good enough at your own " analysis" you will set your own buy/ sell signals, but that takes real, real study and " DILIGENCE"... in most cases you will be working more off " information" ( you can almost call it tips) BUT your information is going to come from your own reading and listening... moneycentral/msn prints news items every minute of the day from about six or eight different financial publications ( just click on the " more news" link and see hour by hour rundowns) you'll have something in mind and just view any stories that may be related. The same site has their own analysts on funds and stocks...also a thing called " Strategy Lab"..six different investors trade and talk about the way and why they buy...
Fundamental analysis is all in the " financials" you will see when you request a quote on yahoo, msn, or any other site.
Some " charting" and tech analysis is found at:http://www.stockconsultant.com
( you can use it for about eight different charts per day ( free) if you click on " consult", enter one symbol..(and make it a favorite) then just enter diff symbols when looking at something in particular)
Your reading and listening will find you people that you come to "trust" or at least respect their opinions. The " Fast Money" guys at 8:00 PM EST on CNBC have some good conversations...you'll learn who to listen to...and they talk to quite a few other people in the markets.
Just one more thing: TAKE IT SLOW...don't try to slam-dunk something right away...find something you know or have read good things about..look at " the sector"..the competition..buy a little of this and that ..watch it work..
Oooops! one more thing...http://top10traders.com/
A nice place to "practice" that you can learn from experience and observation...
Good luck.

Hey Bill Brown,

MikeyJamJams is here to help you out. Lucky for you, I happen to be an expert when it comes to trading. But, we're not here to trade stocks. Look at the news around you, Bill Brown. The stock market is unstable; it's unpredictable. You need something you can rely on, Bill Brown. You need something that you can believe in. Something that will protect you and your family from the dangers of the world. That is why there is only one thing in life that I trade: Pokemon.

Think about all the things you get with a Pokemon, Bill Brown.
- Love: A loving Pokemon is more than a pet. It is a family member. The relationships I have with my Pokemon have isolated me from society, so that I can grow even closer with my Pokemon.
- Strength: Before I had my level 42 Pikachu, I was a pansy. I was nothing, Bill Brown. People would pick on me, give me swirlies in the toilet, and other rude things. But, once I acquired my Pikachu, it was game over. He would lure everyone in with his cuteness, and then destroy them with his power. I would then burn and scavenge their bodies for loose change, upon which I would buy poke balls to catch even more Pokemon.
- Friendship: How many friends do you have right now, Bill Brown? Well, let's increase that number by 100% by getting some Pokemon!
- Compassion: Bill Brown, have you ever had so much passion for someone that you would do anything for them? Well, you do now! You have no idea the things I will do for my Pokemon ;-)
- Adventure: Once you acquire a Pokemon, you begin your destiny. You start a Journey to travel the land to become the greatest Pokemon master of all time. It's truly a beautiful journey that allows you to develop yourself and experience the greatest bond of friendship of all time.

Now, your $ 500 is perfectly fine to start trading with. You can go to Burger King on a weeknight and hit up some kids (I advise against this method if you are an older man). Most of them will have a decent Pokemon you can get for $ 150, such as a Jigglypuff. Then, you can train that Jigglypuff and trade him on the market for a better one. We in the industry call this "Poke-Flipping." It's like flipping a house; but, instead, you're building a stronger, healthier Pokemon for new owner. You can make some serious cash off this.

Hey Bill Brown,

MikeyJamJams is here to help you out. Lucky for you, I happen to be an expert when it comes to trading. But, we’re not here to trade stocks. Look at the news around you, Bill Brown. The stock market is unstable; it’s unpredictable.

Well, let’s increase that number by 100% by getting some Pokemon!
- Compassion: Bill Brown, have you ever had so much passion for someone that you would do anything for them? Well, you do now! You have no idea the things I will do for my Pokemon
- Adventure: Once you acquire a Pokemon, you begin your destiny. You start a Journey to travel the land to become the greatest Pokemon master of all time. It’s truly a beautiful journey that allows you to develop yourself and experience the greatest bond of friendship of all time.

Hello Shailesh, I’ve been a professional trader and fund manager for 7 years now, I belong to a rare club, one that manages funds for a living. Now let me define professional for you: In my terms, a professional means one that can consistently use his expertise and qualifications to provide solutions to his mass. The Foreign exchange is very rewarding and powerful industry, however, as you’ll learn, THAT power is constantly misused and the only one burnt in the end is the one that’s investing his/her hard earned money.

No one and I mean NO one on this site can answer your question effectively, ONLY YOU can do that. IFOREX is relatively new, there reputation yet to earn the stripes that serve as a pre requisite in this industry. We manage accounts and have doubled several accounts over they years, however that is what I claim, how can I prove that? DEMAND proof Shailesh, you owe that to your hard earned money.

Here’s a simple process we implement to showcase our abilities:

1) You Open a Demo Account for us and provide us the login
2) We trade that demo account for a month and the results are as transparent as black and white
3) You analyze our performance on a DAY TO DAY basis and go decide whether its worth the investment.

The Only one to blame when you get burnt is an uniformed individual which is yourself. Earning money in today’s eon requires hard work and austere due diligence, UNLESS IFOREX don’t go the extra mile to comfort a potential client, transparently showcasing their abilities, they’re not worth the risk.

I’ve been providing professional consultancy within the Forex Investments sphere for years and now offer the same virtually:

http://www.liveperson.com/cachet-works-usa/

Finally, if IFOREX promised funds without investing money (I’ve seen it all happen), there’s more than a 95% chance, it’s the initiation to a scam.

Contact me if you need further guidance.

Based upon my own experience, I can save you from the mistakes I made when I started trading stocks a little over a year ago.

1) My #1 mistake was trying to "learn the ropes" of stock trading using real money. It is not necessary! I urge you to set up a dummy portfolio at Yahoo, Google, MSN, or other sites first. You can "trade" stocks and follow your results using pretend money before putting real money at risk.

2) My #2 mistake was jumping in and out of individual stocks too fast. It's too easy to check the market every morning and sell whatever is going down, buy whatever is going up. It seems like a slam-dunk strategy, but it does not work! Stocks can and do reverse direction in a minute. By the end of the day, you can end up wishing you had not bought what you bought, and had not sold what you sold.

3) Research. Research. Research! My TV stays on CNBC or Bloomberg 90%+ of the time. I have learned that a stock the experts call a "buy" one day can be a "sell" the next day. Research is easy on the internet. Whatever web browser you use has a "finance" tab with a stock quotes key.

4) Read #1 again. Set up your portfolio and start trading with pretend money first! It's easy to do, and your lessons will be just as real even though your losses will not be real money.

day traders open positions at the start of the day then close them just before closing time. this gives them the opportunity to invest overnight on the Japanese and European Stock exhanges, or get more interest because the cash is in the account over night.

this is only useful when dealing with extremely large funds. otherwise the transaction costs would not weigh up to the gains.

Although I get a good income from forex trading, I think it's not really possible to put an estimate just like that. Sounds more like sales talk.

It is better to learn the trade and participate so that you know how to manage your risks.

Hello,

Yes forex you can earn a lot of money, basically it is a way where you use the different prices of different currencies to your advantage and exploit them.

Here is an example: If you have $ 300 and convert it to Japanese YEN, if the YEN goes up then your money will go up and when you convert it back you will get more than $ 300. This take a lot of skill and calculations plus luck!

If you want to start check out this site, they were very helpful when i first started.

Adding to what others have answered as well, a lot people put in orders to buy or sell that are to be executed right in the morning, so you have increased volume due to that. You also have many active day traders (myself a former one of those) who take advantage of this, and create a lot of the opening volume. Volume dies down during the day for several reasons, as most people are working, and those who trade are not as active in the middle of the day, simply because the volume is lower. The end of the day marks the return of most day traders, and for those traders that only hold positions in stocks for the duration of the day, they will go flat (buy or sell whatever orders they're holding so they're empty) adding to the increased volume. I hope this helps.

I can tell that you are a value investor. You want to ask 3 questions for the price of 1... well, here you go.

What site is best for trading?
Every one has different needs. If you're new and don't keep much money in your brokerage account, then Scottrade is probably good for you. They're real time charts are pretty good, but no CD's are available, the cash account only pays about 0.5%, and they charge pretty heavily for mutual funds. If you want to leave money sitting in a MM that pays 5% while you're out of the market, like a choice of no load, no fee mutual funds, has an excellent site for research, want to buy competitive CDs on line, all in one place, then you might like fidelity. It's what makes you happy. If you don't like the sevice, then you can always change.

How do I pick stocks?
An answer would take volumes to provide, so let me suggest some literature:

I would recommend William O'Neil's "The Successful Investor" as a good starting point. Follow that up with Peter Lynch's "Beating the Street". That should provide you with two strategies that you can learn from in building your own investment strategy.

Other good books include "The Motley Fool Investment Guide" by Tom and Dave Gardner or "Real Money" by James Cramer.

I have read all these books and many others and devised a strategy that adopts a bit from each one.

Another thing you can do is invest using a fictional portfolio. Let that run for a few months to see if you are ready to start trading with real money. In the meantime, invest in mutual funds. Once you are ready, sell the fund and invest on your own.

Remember, the time spend learning about investing is far less then the money lost by not being prepared.

Where can I find good fundamental and technical analysis?
You're on your own for this. There's a multitude of excellent sites out there, where you can get fundamental ratios. Try Zack's, Yahoo Finance, MSN finance, and a multitude of others are out there for free. As far as technical analysis, you need to research and find what works for you. As far as charting goes, Bigcharts is a good free site. Personally, I like Telecharts, which has a fee, but well worth the 50-75cents per day for the sorting capability, fast way to cycle thru many charts, and the ability to write your own personal critera.

Are there any sites out there that seem to pick consistent winners?
No. And anybody that says they can is a liar.

I can tell that you are a value investor. You want to ask 3 questions for the price of 1… well, here you go.

What site is best for trading?
Every one has different needs. If you’re new and don’t keep much money in your brokerage account, then Scottrade is probably good for you. They’re real time charts are pretty good, but no CD’s are available, the cash account only pays about 0.5%, and they charge pretty heavily for mutual funds. If you want to leave money sitting in a MM that pays 5% while you’re out of the market, like a choice of no load, no fee mutual funds, has an excellent site for research, want to buy competitive CDs on line, all in one place, then you might like fidelity. It’s what makes you happy. If you don’t like the sevice, then you can always change.

How do I pick stocks?
An answer would take volumes to provide, so let me suggest some literature:

I would recommend William O’Neil’s “The Successful Investor” as a good starting point. Follow that up with Peter Lynch’s “Beating the Street”. That should provide you with two strategies that you can learn from in building your own investment strategy.

Other good books include “The Motley Fool Investment Guide” by Tom and Dave Gardner or “Real Money” by James Cramer.

1st thing people have had a chance to see what other world markets are doing and can see where they can get a bargin, those who trade want to get in before the market moves too much. Then last thing the traders want to take their profit, or simply they may not want to risk overnight developments causing their stock to open at a different level.....I do this myself as I can sleep easier that way, tomorrow is a new day and there will be something else to make money on :-)

Honestly, this is something you'll want to investigate thoroughly. Check out some of the major investment firms such as Fidelity, Vanguard, Charles Schwab, or some of the online brokers eTrade and Ameritrade to get an idea of what's out there. Most firms have minimum initial investments for certain products. Fidelity requires $ 2500 for initial Mutual fund investment, $ 1000 for cds. Vanguard starts at $ 3000 with the exception of Vanguard Star Fund (which is a fund of other Vanguard funds) which starts at $ 1000. You might also benefit by checking out Morningstar.com and/or Valueline. Morningstar offers a no-frills membership to their site, which is fairly helpful in analyzing investment choices. I also like Smartmoney.com.

I also highly recommend checking out a few other resources. First, ask around family and friends. See if they'll tell you what worked or maybe didn't work for them and why. Also, purchase or borrow an investment text. Most college-level personal finance texts should be adequat for learning basic terminology, ideology, and methodology of sundry investment products. I also have used Investing for Dummies, thought its analysis seems a bit trite at times.

Whatever you do, try to resist the urge to baby sit your investments, especially if they are long term (college, retirement, etc.) Once you find an investment, invest, then cut the chord. There are several investment profiles from Conservative to Aggressive Growth. Invest to your comfort level.

So far the answers you've received are totally wrong. Watching CNBC can give you a "feel" but it's the worst place to take specific investing advice from. This would be true of any other TV, radio or newspaper, magazine or newsletter.

Scottrade is a great broker but it's not good for a newbie. I have no idea about Amertitade. I can tell you that Schwab and Fidelity are more geared to the new or less involved trader that needs some help along the way.

I've tried Gorilla Trades. They're fair at best. A good service is going to have 40% - 65% good picks. The real way to profit is with the correct Money Management (risk to reward ratio)..... combined with a proper "asset allocation".

If there was a great service "out there" don't you think everyone would be using it?

READ... LEARN.. READ... LEARN.....

If done correctly stock investing is not gambling. Mutual funds would (however) be a good way to start & and a great way to learn.

Work hard. Don't take "tips". Keep "fees" low. Always use good money management.... you'll do fine!

Some years ago, I occasionally sold stock and took the proceeds the NEXT day. When I needed cash right away, I would sell stock which is held in a cash account at the local office of a large full service broker. I do not know if there is a mechanism to do so in my discount brokerage account. (I will have to check that out for my own knowledge!)

The order is to 'SELL FOR CASH'.

Lets say you sell 100 shares of XYZ Corp at market price for cash, and the bid is $ 20 per share. You pay the normal commission, plus the broker can buy the stock from you for a discount of 1/8 or 1/4 per share, depending upon how actively the stock is traded. So, your confirmation may reflect a sale price of only $ 19.75 per share. He can cut you a check right away.

As I say, I haven't done this for some years, so you should stop in and ask at a large brokerage to see if that is still permitted.

You may want to check whether the laws governing 401k etc plans allow trading of any financial instruments at all. Most supernnuation type systems allow "investing" on a long term basis, but "trading" is regarded as "running a business" which you may be prohibited from doing.

I am told that "writing covered calls" is the only option strategy allowed for 401k accounts, because in the end, the shares which cover the call options are your investment. So if your system is outside of that, you may wish to check out its legality first.

Playing Forex can appear alluring, but the majority of people who try it lose money. All you have to do is do a web search on the words "Forex" and "lose" to see this is the consensus.

Forex is what we call a "zero sum" game. You are making a bet with someone else about whether a currency will rise or fall. For every winner there has to be a loser. If you are smarter than the average player, you may make money. If you are dumber than the average player, you are likely to lose money. Most of the people making the "bets" in Forex are highly trained professionals at banks and other institutions. You are unlikely to beat them at this game.

Actually Forex is not quite a zero sum game. It's a slightly negative sum game as the Forex broker takes a small percentage each time in the spread. It's a small amount but over a hundred trades, it ends up being a considerable amount of money. So the average player is likely to lose money, and remember the average player is a highly trained professional and probably smarter than you.

There is a lot of luck in Forex, and if you play it, you will have some periods of time where you make money. This is usually because you are having a lucky streak, not because you have suddenly become an expert Forex player. However, most people are unwilling to admit their success is due to luck. They become convinced they have a system that works, and lose a lot of money trying to refine it.

Further complicating the problem is the large number of Forex scams on the internet. Most Forex websites are of questionable honesty. You will find many people on the Internet that claim they made a lot of money using Forex. They are usually liars trying to make money. They will say: "Go to Forexcrap . com/q2347." The "q2347" is a signal to the Forexcrap site that you are being referred to them by "q2347." If they sell something to you, "q2347" gets a kickback. These coded signals can be hidden by different methods in the link. Other people will refer you to their own private website or blog for the purpose of trying to get money off you. Also there are a good number of trolls out there that like to pretend they are successful forex traders just for the fun of it.

I found an article that quotes a financial company to Knowledge to Action. It says that according to the fore mentioned: "You can lose more than you invested by trading foreign exchange products because of leverage." So it's "quick to emphasize that need for training because an investor needs to "understand the risks involved and consider the appropriateness of trading in foreign exchange products having regard to your own particular objectives, financial situation or needs."

I guess it just says forex trading is not just for anybody, but you won't know that until you try. I hope you didn't lose much.

Also there are a good number of trolls out there that like to pretend they are successful forex traders just for the fun of it.

I would recommend not trying to do Forex at all, unless you are a trained professional. It's like playing poker with people better than you, with the house constantly taking a small percentage from the pot.

Both a 401k & Roth IRA are tax deferred. Nice thing about a Roth is that since you fund it with after tax dollars, you can pull out your initial investment (but not any gain) at any time with no tax liability. Retirement proceeds from a Roth are tax-free, too.

With any tax-deferred account you can't use margin. So you can't sell uncovered puts or calls for one thing. Long positions, cash-covered short puts, covered calls, fully-hedged spreads, etc. are permissible. In short you can only enter positions with "defined risk".

Not all brokerages allow option trading in retirement accounts. I know thinkorswim does but I'm not sure about any others.

A margin account is not necessary for trading options. A margin account is required if you want to short sell however different brokers may have different requirements.

TD Ameritrade for example has a "general" individual trading account, an options account and a margin account. If you want to trade and buy/sell options then you can sign up for a trading account which is approved for options trading.

Also keep in mind that if you are an employee you cannot setup a 401(k) or 403(b) plan.

You can open a Roth IRA (preferred for most people) for yourself and you can trade till you are blue in the face without paying taxes on dividend/interest payments or profits. You also cannot take tax deductions for losses on the flip side. You should not receive any tax forms i.e. 1099-DIV from your retirement accounts (assuming you did not make a withdrawal).

If you have an employer which offers a 401(k) plan with some matching take it (match their match). It is almost truly free money. Do open a Roth IRA as well. Your 401(k) most likely only offers mutual funds so no options trading in there but the Roth is controlled by you.

Because you are a human and do not know all market conditions. Every trader has human emotions: greed or something similar. So better to pay little and buy forex robot that will trade 24 hours a day without emotions. This robot knows what to do and when. You will have constant income of 15-20% monthly.

The question is how does the Canadian dollar's value influence trade with the US. Not how does it effect the buying power of the USD.

And the answer is it has little to no effect on trade with the US from the US side. The United States imports from Canada constitute under 20% of US imports in general (fluctuating from 16%-17% in the 2000s). Most of these imports is agriculture and energy, which a country will pay for no matter what because you have to eat and you need heat and electricity and whatnot.

Does it have an impact on the cost of groceries and the gas bill? Yeah. Are you not gonna eat or power your home because it costs 7-10% more than it would have 10 years ago? No.

The effect is actually negative on the Canadian exporters and manufacturers. 80+% of Canadian goods see their way to the US. They are getting paid less money for their veggies/paper goods/etc.

But factors other than the USD make it more profitable to trade with the US still than take their goods elsewhere. Shipping costs/trade agreements that limit tariffs on Canadian goods(NAFTA)/etc make it so that the relative value of the currencies has virtually no impact on trade between the two nations.

That being said if the US housing market completely collapses and the 2USD = 1CAD or Quebec secedes from Canada and 5CAD = 1USD, all bets are off. If the difference is the 1 cent a year that has happened in the recent past, than little to no impact at all because of the previously stated reasons.

So the short answer is no it hasn't had a significant impact on trade.

It's not rigged, but you need a strategy. You can find a good strategy at: http://comefollowme.zulutrade.com

And you need a non-dealing-desk broker. Brokers with dealing desks can sometimes make the chart move against you, though that's kind of rare. A great broker is: http://www.etoro.com/B66_A29675_TClick.aspx

If you do these two things, you will succeed:

a) follow my first link to get yourself a good strategy, they are free, and the historical results you see are NOT backtests - those strategies have all had to build their history with that website one trade at a time in real time.

b) follow my second link to get yourself a non-dealing-desk broker. The broker link I gave also has some good strategies with it, which you can use if you wish. Either way, get a strategy.

c) trade a small percentage of your account. If your account is $ 500 or less, do not ever open more than a few micro lots at a time. If you want to open just one mini lot (a mini lot is 0.1 standard lots) then you will need TEN TIMES as much money to be in your account. You can blow your account in just 3 trades if you over trade, EVEN though you had a good strategy! I've seen it happen. Nothing worse than to have a good strategy, but you blow your account immediately from extreme over-trading, and then you have to sit there for the next few months and watch that strategy do really well... without you.

You have a contract for sale with the seller. You cannot "walk". The agent is already "double-dipping" whether you sign this other form or not. There is no other company to share the commission with because you decided to give both sides to the listing company by calling off signs instead of having representation.
Whatever form he is asking you to sign, he should have had you sign it BEFORE the transaction. And if it's a notice of the types of representation available, he should have given it to you on your first meeting, before discussing anything of substance. You are supposed to know BEFORE you talk about your situation or the offer just who the agent is representing. - In all likelihood, his broker or office manager reminded him that he missed a form that's supposed to be in the file and now he's trying to get all his paperwork in order.
Be straighforward in asking him what the form is and what it's purpose is. Who DID he represent during negotiations? You are not obligated to sign it if you are unsure. - But you are in a contract with the seller. You cannot walk away from that.

The type service you are looking for is called a "managed account" program. You will be surprised to know how many programs exist today, just google it. I would highly recommend reading reviews on programs, if they exist, before investing with them. Some are traded using automatic trading robots, or scripts. The rest are managed by actual managers.

True, you do have to watch out for possible scams. Again, read reviews to see what others have said. Of course track the program's performance record. Also pay attention to the "maximum drawdown" that the program suffers. The higher the drawdown value, the higher the chance that your manager will blow the account. Blowing the account means losing almost all of your money. I consider 40% or above to be much too high.

I am a currency trader, and I have also tried out a few managed account programs for myself.

I recently started my own managed account program and am accepting new clients. If you would like to learn about my program and other insights that I offer in my forex blog, please check out my website spicecap.com

It's not rigged. You can tell by opening a demo account with a different broker, and checking to make sure the two charts are in sync.

But you have to realize that there are a lot of other traders out there looking at the same chart you are. They know what's in your head, and what you're likely to do, and so they'll do the opposite. To trade successfully, you need a strategy that's better than theirs. That takes years of study and experience.

In general Forex is a lot more riskier than stock trading assuming you do enough research on the company stock that you plan to invest. However, stock trading can be as risky as Forex trading if you don't do enough homework. There are also a lot of Forex scam out there as compared to stock. :)

He is double dipping, but it is all legal. He should have had you sign this before the offer was presented, it was not legal to present your offer w/o a contract.

You can either sign or walk from the deal, but as it is now it is not legal and escrow will not be proceding. He can not be your agent w/o the signature and you have no idea how to be your own agent (the work has not really started yet).

There are a lot of services out there, that would trade forex on your behalf and give you a share of the profits, but the best ones are those that allow you to do the trade yourself by giving you an automated forex software or expert advisor like they call it.
Whichever one you decide to take, remember to invest only what you can afford to lose. Forex is very risky

Non-profit organization. Sometimes they are also called foundations, or endowments that have large stock funds. A very similar organization called the supporting organization operates like a foundation, but they are more complicated to administer, they are more tax favored, and the public charities that receive grants from them must have a specially determined relationship.

Foundations give out grants to other NPOs, or fellowships and direct grants to participants. However, the name foundations may be used by any not-for-profit corporation — even volunteer organizations or grass roots groups.

No its not rigged, because if you had'nt entered the market would have done EXACTLY the same thing.

You will however get streaks of wins and lossses.

Yes, history shows that stocks have alot less volatility than Forex. There are two reasons for this assumption:

Reason one: Stocks require alot less margin than trading Forex. Margin is the amount of money that you borrow from your broker for owning a certain position, either long or short the underlying asset. With Forex, the margin can be as great as 1:100. With stock, the maximum amount of margin to open a new position is 1:1 or 50%. Therefore, the greater the margin, the less the price has to move to affect your total cash position since the money you borrowed never really gets affected by the price.

Reason two: Volatility. History has shown that the Forex markets tend to have much greater volatility than the stock market, in fact, much greater than any other market in the world. This volatility combined with the margin requirements could make you get rich quick as well as loose your entire investment quick. It simply depends on if various points of data are either good or bad, and it doesn't matter if it is good for the currency you are long or short in at all.

Personally, I haven't had much luck in the Forex market, but have had great success in the stock and options market. I have read many articles about people making money in the Forex market, but for me, I just can't do it. I guess it really depends on the trader.

If you want to try trading with practice money, the best place to do this that I have found is thinkorswim.com.

Your "double dipping" is called Dual Agency, that is, the agent represents both buyer and seller and its not a concept that everyone understands well. Its not unethical but it may or may not be permitted in your state. You should have your own agent. One agent representing both sides can be done, but err on the side of caution and find your own agent, they will be paid by the seller. Keep this in mind: If there is only one agent for both sides, whose interest will the agent have first yours, or the sellers?

I feel what you feel, because I have been there. The solution is too trade following the trend.
The question is how do you identify the trend? If you are taking your trades from a 5 minute
chart, then you want to be taking the trades in the direction of the trend in the 1 hour chart.
Look at the one hour chart and the direction of the trend there is how you take the trade.
What I discovered is that, I was counter trading but did not know it. When you enter a trade,
you only assume that it will go in your favor based on your trading plan. The truth is you never
know what the market is going to do.

These are the parameters I use on my charts.

Triangular Moving Average 5 or 8, 13 and 21. It does not matter, you can use the simple
moving average.

And I use MACD with parameters (30, 50, 10). This has helped me to trade 80% of the time
in the right direction. Sometimes, you will miss out on trades that go 100 pips on the 5 minute
chart. But you will be safer.

Example, to go long, price must be above all 3 moving averages, both on the 1 hour chart and on
the 5 minute chart. If that is the case, then I will look for my entry signal on the 5 minute chart
after a pull back.

To confirm your direction of trade. MACD Line must be above the Signal Line. I have this trading strategy explained in detailed.

Hi,
It is not a scam. But than again it all depends, which Forex you're dealing with. I'm investing in Finanzasforex, the link is www.finanzasforex.com/tiara. Already coupple of months and I'm happy with 14% monthly. I also have some experience from before - it has a lot to do with software improvement - same like with pricing strategy - where a company such as GE Lightning uses software which evaluate many relevant factors influencing the change. They guarantee 7% min - but it never went that low in my case -always 14.

There are many services out there that will take your money to trade Forex and give you a percentage return. However most of them are scams that will take your money and run. I know of no reliable company that will invest Forex for you.

Vary rarely is this an issue. But, on some loans, the value will be important in calculating the 'Loan-to-Value' (LTV)

Typically, an estimate is good enough. But on some deals, the LTV affects rate

If they are asking for fees upfront, then it is just a sales tactic to try and lock you in with them.

Get another opinion

An RE agent can sell to an individual, but can not be the Sellers agent and buyers agent on the same property. that is not true, i brought a house and the seller was the real estate agency i dealt with, but i dealt with another agent, in the company that represented the seller.

it could be ethical, however get yourself a lawyer, I had a lawyer who represented me, and I got the house.

with all diligence, get that lawyer, be careful, sorry to say this, these people here are right, dont sign nothing just yet.
you would then be bound by the broker who is selling the real estate, make sure u are well prepared too.

try trulia.com for other comparable houses in your neighborhood.
good luck man

Take your loan elsewhere.

A mortgage company (whether it's a bank, broker, or lender) will give you a quote without ordering an appraisal. All that is needed is for you to provide your personal information (income/assets, job history, SSN, etc) and let them review your credit history. They will give you a quote on the interest rate and closing costs. The appraisal just solidifies the deal.

Most mortgage companies will require you to pay for the appraisal after you've accepted the terms of the loan, because the appraiser is an independent 3rd party, and if you cancel the loan, the lender is stuck with the bill.

No not really, it would be a better use of your time to take the 10k invest it in a forex account and trade currency pairs. It is easier to make money if you know what you are doing. More people lose money the forex market then make money and it is simply because they have no idea of what they are doing. If you learn how to trade forex correctly but doing your research and building a game winning plan then you can profit from trading currency pairs.

Shares or stocks are more stable then Forex, generally speaking the price of stocks rise over time. so systems can be tailored this way,

The big difference with forex is that currency doesnt acctually rise or fall in a stable way, so expecting overall growth isnt the way to invest in forex. But at the same time a person makes money in BOTH directions.

Without a great deal of understanding in forex i would tell you to stick to stocks, but dont forget that stocks can make you lose money just as easily without education.

This is why you shouldn't deal with online lenders! Talk with local lenders, at least you can stomp into their office and make demands. Most Internet lenders won't answer the phone when something goes wrong.

And just so I'm clear, I'm an appraiser I don't believe it is in your best interest to pay to the appraisal up front. The lender is fully aware of how to obtain value without us, but they choose not to subscribe to these services because it costs money. They will tell you that when you the borrower pay for the appraisal it shows commitment to them. BS! They know if the value isn't there, they are stuck paying for the appraisal and can't close the loan. Oh and just so you understand, the appraiser can not give you the borrower the appraisal. It's against the law.

It's not unethical if the agent represents only the seller then he can have you sign a no brokerage relationship notice which states he works for the seller and not for you however he does have to provide you with honest and fair dealing, disclosing all know facts that materially affect the value of the residence which is not readily observable to the buyer, and accounting for all funds entrusted to the licensee.

If he wants to represent BOTH of you then he has to get permission in writing from the seller that they are ok with this. Usually you have to ask them to represent you before they'll do this. If he does represent you both then his status goes from Single agent to Transaction Broker where he has to do all of the above but has limited confidentiality to both parties.

Sometimes its simply a disclosure agreement. Ask him about it, ask him if he is trying to be your buyers agent. It's not double dipping but if he does represent you and the seller then he does usually get double the commission for being both the buyers and sellers agent, however, when he does that he now has limited confidentiality to both of you.

You should never purchase a house without an agent or at least a real estate attorney, they weed thru all the bull and they help you thru the entire process from start to finish, it's never wise to purchase a home without one.

Ask him exactly what it is he wants you to sign and read it through before signing anything, if you don't want him to represent you then make sure he knows that.

No, because all the currency rate are adjusted to prevent such arbitrage opportunity as you have mentioned. Not to mention you'll need to pay for the transaction as well. The idea is this, the world of finance is so efficient at one point in time, that any good money-making opportunity around would have already been long exploited by the experts/professionals.

Legal? Yes. Ethical? You decide. is it common? sure.

Most transactions involve 2 agents, a buyers agent and a sellers agent.
The agent fees are paid for by the seller. Usually a percentage of transactions, say 6%. Because of that, in reality, both agents are working to maximize the sales price, while making sure the deal goes thru. Seller agent works on the seller, Buyer agent works on the buyer.

When there is only one agent, you have an advantage. I have heard of cases where seller agents who screw the seller by not informing the clients of all deals. Instead, they sell to a buyer they are representing because they get the full 6%.

Say the property is worth 100k. If you have an agent, he will only get $ 3k. If you don't, he gets $ 6k. If he convinces the seller to sell to you for 90k, he still pockets $ 5,4k. Still alot more than $ 3k.

With 2 agents, both agents are really trying to see if you will pay $ 110k. that way, they both get $ 3300.

I am no ways saying any agent is unethical, but just showing how the money flows in this case.

Good agents make alot of money, knows alot of other agents, and have the ability to make buyers and sellers feel like they benefitted.

This agent is attempting to engage in dual agency

Def: Some states permit a real estate licensee to potentially act as a dual agent, that is, represent more than one party to the transaction. A licensee may legally act as a dual agent with the written disclosure and informed consent of a consumer in form required by law.

I don’t like the practice. Whether it’s unethical or not depends on the agent’s ability to not let what you say slip to the seller, and not let what the seller says slip to you. It’s hard, but not impossible. I don't really trust agents who will do this. You don’t have to sign the agreement. Just explain to this agent that you don’t want their representation.

If this deal doesn’t work out, I do encourage you to get your own buyer’s agent so you’ll have some help on the next deal. Their commission is shared with the listing agent, so with the house in question, you’re handing the listing agent the money that should pay for your independent representation.

I have three methods I use to "go back in time" to test a strategy:
(I use Metatrader 4 - Which is free)

1) Manual Backtest with signals based on closed candles - This is very rudimentary but works great for those systems that have entry signals based off closed candles. I simply scroll my chart back to the date where I want to start, place the first candle in the set on the far right of my screen so that it is the only candle I can see, and slowly scroll one candle at a time forward as if it were live.

2) Manual Backtest with signals not based off closed candles - When I have a system I want to test that takes signals NOT based on closed candles I use Metatrader's 'strategy tester'. What I do, is I open the strategy tester, place whatever EA is available, the currency pair, and date range that I want to test. I then check the 'visual mode' box. As soon as you click 'start' a new chart will open and candles will begin to form. The chart runs just as if it were trading live. You can speed up, slow down, or pause the chart. This is a very good way to practice as if you were trading live.

3) Finally, You can test your strategies by programming them into auto traders (EAs) and using the 'strategy tester' on Metatrader to test their effectiveness.

Please remember that a buyers agent never gets paid by the buyer. The seller has to pay.Yes, there fore it is a conflict of interest. An RE agent can sell to an individual, but can not be the Sellers agent and buyers agent on the same property. When two agents- a buyer and seller are on a property together, then they have to split commission. What they are trying to do is prevent you from getting a buyers agent so they can get all of it. Be careful.

A real estate agent is kind of like a lawyer. They have their clients best interest in mind. They make sure that the client's transaction is done legally, and will get the most out of the sale. Think about it, if you are not paying them, and the seller is, do you think they will give you the best price, or make sure the inspections are completed right, or will they just want to make as much money as they can fast? Please get a buyers agent.

If you want to get into trading forex, there's a free ebook you can download at http://www.forexfromscratch.com - just type your name and email, hit the "submit" button and they will email you the step-by-step beginners guide.

There's also another free book you can download at http://www.fxsystemscompared.com which shows you exactly how forex systems work.

Hope this helps?

If the company stops trading because it goes bankrupt, you can expect to lose your investment. If, however, it stops trading because it merges with other company, it will just a change of name and your investment is still worth something. So which one is your case? The company stops trading because it went banrkrupt? Or does it stop trading under the old name?

Sounds like the seller negotiated to where the selling/broker would receive a lesser profit, usually 3.5% of the sale instead of 7%, which is the normal percentage and it is probably a higher dollar value house.

Best would be to hire your own real estate attorney to check it out; if not, does sound legit, much depending in the terms and conditions. Read the fine print yourself, or if you do not feel comfortable, hire an attorney to protect your interests.

unfortunately, your shares are worthless. You can write off the cost of the shares on your tax return on a dollar-for-dollar basis against any gains you have. If you have a tax adviser, talk to him/her about it.

Shareholders are always the last group to get any $ $ out of a company that goes bankrupt.

Find your get-away place in Arkansas, hopefully one with some age on it, one where the owner would have a significant gain on the sale, and offer a swap. It's called a 1031 exchange. You'll need a qualified third party intermediary, but you could end up with what you want and the other party could defer the gain on the transfer of the property. Never know...

Investment bankers work directly with corporations and large institutional clients they are in the business of raising capital for them through new stock offerings, bond issuance, mergers and acquisitions, etc. A broker essentially facilitates a trade for an individual client or institution.

Usually these places rent space for you to set up a table (or whatever). Check the website of the next show you think you would like to sell at and there should be instructions on how to rent space. Be warned, however, that newbies at any public show get the least-attractive positions at the show, as the promoters reward their best "customers" with the better points in the exhibit.

Yahoo Finance or MSN Money are good and free tools you can use. Just search for 'renewable energy' or 'green' companies. Good example of one start up that is getting lots of attention is Beacon Corp (BCON).

I can't answer for Ameritrade but I can when it comes to dealing in Foreign stocks in America.

American brokerage houses are required to use an American Deposit Receipt in place off a stock certificate.

ADR's are an easy way for the Fed to monitor transactions and apply proper oversight to the trades and apply sanctions if needed.

Because this is just one reason, there are others, you may get more than one answer.

In the Netherlands you will be using another stock identity for your american issues, and since you will be living in a foreign country, it may very well be in written Dutch. LOL.

Good luck on your proposed move. It's supposed to be a beautiful, but very different country.

Of course you can do it, I think that most of American brokers will be happy to open an account for you. I also live in Europe and I trade with www.interactivebrokers.com. It's a big broker, listed on stock market itself.
